Land (soil) degradation is a central global issue today, as a result of increases and pressures (overcultivation, overgrazing, and forest conversion). The direct cause of land degradation is inappropriate land use that leads to a decline in the quality of soil, water, and vegetation cover, and a reduction in biodiversity, which then results in a decrease in the structure and function of the ecosystem.
Thus, efforts to improve damaged (degraded) land (land) or land reclamation are very urgent so that land resources can be improved and utilized sustainably. The Master's Program in Soil Science focuses on the process of learning and developing science and technology in the field of land management through an inter and multidisciplinary approach, as well as educating the community based on research results. This study program is expected to play a role as a connector of the earth science cycle which is very important in the context of managing planet earth and the wealth contained therein.
